Tooele, Utah
After a day and a half of driving, we are here in Tooele, Utah for the World Superbike motorcycle races. The drive was not bad. Ingrid read some of her new Clifford books and we practiced drawing dogs, from a book that Grandpa Bresani gave her on our last day in Redwood City. There’s no power or water here, we’re dry camping. We have our own water and power but we have to be a little conservative.
Yesterday we rode our bikes to the race track. It was a big ordeal because ever since we bought Ingrid her own bike, she no longer wants to ride the trailey (it attaches to Andrew’s bike). It’s too far for Ingrid to ride her own bike, and she still needs one of us to walk alongside in case she topples over. It was hot and frustrating for us, but we ended up walking the first quarter of the way. Then finally Ingrid relented, because she was getting tired. Two minutes later, she was smiling like crazy and now she loves the trailey again. Once we got to the paved part, she started doing some Cirque du Soleil-like moves and was really enjoying herself. Standing up, foot on the seat, hands in the air, stuff like that. She’s also made a huge leap in riding her own bike. Since it’s dirt here, as opposed to pavement, Ingrid’s confidence has shot up and she’s been riding really fast. And she wants to ride -all- day long.
The dogs are having fun too, they’ve been running off-leash several times a day, at places they’ve never been before. Yesterday we found a long trail connecting two roads. When we pulled up, we saw a sign with the rules and we thought for sure we’d have to leash the dogs. Actually though, there was no mention of dogs at all! How refreshing coming from California, where dogs are allowed nowhere.
Last night Andrew set up my new outdoor stove and I made some potato chips. They were really yummy, especially good warm. The weather was perfect, warm with a little breeze, and we sat outside and watched What Not to Wear while we ate our burgers.
