Make Yoda doll we did!

I’m done with Ingrid’s Leia robe. The zipper was a nightmare since I didn’t plan for it properly but in the end it looks like what it’s supposed to be so I have to learn from it and move on. Ingrid loves it, and she looks adorable in it. We are getting excited about Halloween; hence the idea to make a little Yoda. This little guy may come trick or treating with us.

Here’s how he started out. I found a neat little tutorial but Ingrid wanted her Yoda to be closer to life size, and she wanted the robe to come off, and we had a whole bunch of fleece that I really wanted to get rid of. So actually I got the idea from there but drew my own pattern and we did our own thing with it. The googly eyes didn’t look right on our big Yoda so Andrew threw in some ideas and I think they worked out great! The funny part about the eyes is that we couldn’t all agree on whether they should be under the lids or half in half out, but after I sewed them on, Ingrid pointed out that the eyes could be wide open (all the way out) or partly open, say if he’s angry, or all the way closed if he’s sleeping.

Last night we went out for our romantic anniversary dinner;  just us, and Ingrid, and Yoda! My sister offered to watch Ingrid, but we couldn’t deprive her of her favorite restaurant. And she’s fun to have there too. She didn’t talk much, was more interested in the food, so Andrew and I got to talk and relax and it was great. When she did talk, she said everything backward the way Yoda does, and giggled like crazy afterward.

He claims he doesn’t love him…

but I don’t believe it. Andrew made Plutie a little bed on top of the printer. Now Pluto hangs out in the office all day, sleeping, sneezing all over the huge monitor, and often waking up the printer in the middle of the night.

This is Moises, Ingrid’s current best friend. He’s a really sweet boy and he and Ing get on fabulously. I hear so much laughing when they’re playing outside. They both are obsessed with Star Wars, love building forts and clubhouses, being detectives, and doing their homework together. They get excited when I bring them home some In ‘n Out Burger. They have to see each other everyday and Moises has told me more than once that he should live in our house instead of his. He’s from El Salvador and he has an endearing accent. They buy each other gifts from everywhere they go!

I’m not looking forward to the day we have to say goodbye.

A new cozy…

for my sewing machine, made from fabulous oil cloth. Now, I know this isn’t exactly a necessity for our home BUT, it truly makes me happy to see this cozy every time I pull out my sewing machine. I mean, look at those colors, pure joy!

Peeking out behind you can see some beautiful fabric that Andrew so thoughtfully bought for me. Gingham is one of those little strange things that I’ve become attached to lately, for some unknown reason. Suddenly I just had to have some, in every color please. Kind of like my thing with owls.

It’s become an obsession!

Lego Star Wars rule!
