newest cuties

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

These are my latest creations. The doll is named Peach and Ingrid and I made her together from a Waldorf doll kit that I bought Ingrid for Christmas. Yeah, I know, pretty late! The purple cat I made for my mom for her birthday. She and the other two are from my current favorite book, Hilary Lang’s Wee Wonderfuls. I love that book so much that I look for excuses for making one of these softies!

The girl with buns is a sleepover pal that I made as a present for someone but then Ingrid fell in love with her and I decided to make something different instead. I also made a little sleeping bag that fits her and the two other mermaidens I made for Ingrid. One of those was also made as a gift for someone but Ingrid could not bear to see her go (do you see a pattern here?…) I know it is my fault as much as it is hers. This latest mermaiden IS going to be a gift, can’t say for who yet. We have taken her picture and now we can remember her forever. Ingrid is OK with that, because I have already agreed to make her a merman.

An old friend

We ran into my wonderful friend Hilary and her adorable little Morgan at Whole Foods the other day. Morgan and Ingrid knew each other as babies from our moms’ club. She is still super cute and sweet and a little shy.

Ingrid and Hannah met Friday at Syncrofest and from that moment on they spent every minute together. Hannah slept in Ingrid’s bed both nights and they stayed up late whispering and giggling whilst playing with Barbie and Ken.

Sunday morning the girls awoke to a big basket of goodies from the Easter bunny including a little girl Barbie. They even found some chocolate filled eggs hidden in the RV. So glad the bunny decided to come!

Here they are modeling my last-minute Vanny hat for the Syncrofest raffle.

our busy spring

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I haven’t posted in a long time and one reason is that I thought the posting tool was broken, but apparently it’s been fixed for a while, I guess I just spaced when Andrew told me. Also we’ve just been super busy!

When we got back from San Diego and Disneyland, we stayed in Redwood City for just one week, during which we planned our parents’ surprise Hawaiian luau. It’s their 50th anniversary this year, and my sisters and I have been secretly scheming since November on a wonderful gift for them. We wanted it to be their dream come true, and I think we nailed it. We, our entire 20+ family, are taking our parents to Maui for 10 days in August! The luau was our way to deliver the gift. We ordered a sheet cake with the words “Happy 50th Anniversary, we’re going to Maui!” on it and unveiled it to them at the luau. They were pretty much speechless! : )

Next day Ingrid and I drove to Disneyland again, this time with my sister and her 3 kids and our mom. We stayed at the Disneyland hotel thanks to my 40% discount with the annual pass and it was great being so close to the park. Ingrid had a fabulous time of course, it doesn’t get much better then being with the cousins 6 days in a row, and being in Disneyland!

The day after we got back, I went to my last rehearsal and then the following day I danced with my Trinidadian group for a Carnaval benefit. Fun fun fun! But exhausting and scary. Especially since I’d missed 4 rehearsals in a row!

One week of barely catching up with life (laundry, bills, shopping, errands, etc.) and now it’s off to Hollister for a weekend of Syncros. My family will come Sunday to celebrate Easter and then we’re back to RWC for a week during which I’ll plan our next journey which goes something like: Disney-Legoland (shhhhh… it’s a surprise)-Las Vegas-Moab. We’ll spend a month or so in beautiful QUIET Moab and then eastward bound, to St. Louis and beyond! (I’ve been spending waaaay too much time at Disneyland).

Yipeeeeee!
